Introduction to Aluminum Hydroxide

May 15, 2023

Aluminum hydroxide is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula Al(OH)3, which is the hydroxide of aluminum. Aluminum hydroxide can react with acid to generate salt and water and can react with strong base to generate salt and water, so it is an amphoteric hydroxide. Because it is acidic to a certain extent, it can also be called alumina (H3AlO3). However, tetrahydroxyaluminate ([Al(OH)4]-) is actually formed when it reacts with alkali. Therefore, it is usually regarded as monohydrated metaaluminum acid (HAlO2·H2O), which is divided into industrial grade and pharmaceutical grade according to its use.
