The role of activated alumina
May 09, 2023
Activated alumina belongs to the category of chemical alumina and is mainly used for adsorbents, water purifiers, catalysts and catalyst carriers. Activated alumina has selective adsorption capacity for gas, water vapor and moisture of some liquids. After adsorption saturation, it can be revived by heating at about 175-315°C to remove water. Adsorption and resurrection can be performed multiple times. In addition to being used as a desiccant, it can also absorb the vapor of lubricating oil from polluted oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, natural gas, etc. And can be used as catalyst and catalyst carrier and chromatographic analysis carrier. It can be used as a defluorinating agent for high-fluorine drinking water (large fluorine removal capacity), a defluorinating agent for circulating alkanes in the production of alkylbenzene, a deacidification regenerating agent for transformer oil, and gas drying in the oxygen production industry, textile industry, and electronics industry , automatic instrument air drying, and used as desiccant and purifier in chemical fertilizer, petrochemical drying and other industries (dew point can reach -40°C), and pressure swing adsorption dew point in air separation industry can reach -55°C. It is a high-efficiency desiccant for deep drying of trace water. Ideal for heatless regeneration units.
