Sodium Metaaluminate for Titanium Dioxide

The chemical name of titanium white powder is titanium dioxide, with chemical formula as TiOz. According to the different crystallization forms of pigment grade titanium dioxide, the pigment grade titanium dioxide can be classified as two types: anatase titanium dioxide (type A for short) and rutile titanium dioxide (type R for short). 1. Applications of Sodium Metaaluminate for Titanium Dioxide in anatase titanium dioxide

The titanium dioxide pigment as a white pigment has high non-transparency. The non-transparency is because of the refractivity difference between the pigment and surrounding medium. When the refractivity of pigment is equal to that of the base material, it will appear transparent; when the refractivity of pigment is greater than that of the base material, it will appear non-transparent, and the greater the difference between the two, the stronger the non-transparency. The refractivity of titanium dioxide is higher than that of other white pigments. Moreover, the titanium dioxide has high whiteness, stable chemical properties and good dispersibility. Therefore, adding 0.2%-0.5% titanium dioxide to synthetic fibers can generally achieve the delustering effects.

The titanium dioxide for chemical fiber use is a very important type of titanium dioxide pigment. Although the rutile titanium dioxide has higher refractivity and better weather resistance when compared to anatase titanium dioxide, the rutile particles are not as soft as anatase particles, thus they are easy to wear the spinneret and the cutter. Therefore, the majority of titanium dioxide for chemical fiber is anatase titanium dioxide. The adoption of titanium dioxide for chemical fiber use accounts for about 3% of the total output of titanium dioxide in the world.

The titanium dioxide for chemical fiber delustering use generally does not undergo the surface treatment. However, the polyamide fibers are vulnerable to the photochemical catalysis of titanium dioxide in UV light. Therefore, the titanium dioxide for fiber aging and degradation use generally undergoes the inorganic matter surface treatment such as silicon, aluminium or silicon, aluminium, manganese. The Sodium Metaaluminate for Titanium Dioxide is used for surface treatment in this process.

2. Applications of Sodium Metaaluminate for Titanium Dioxide in rutile titanium dioxide

The weather resistance of rutile titanium dioxide is higher than that of anatase titanium dioxide, but the surface of rutile titanium dioxide has photoactivity defects.Therefore, the surface of rutile titanium dioxide shall be coated with oxide, and its particle surface shall be evenly coated with a layer of oxide film, thus can effectively reduce the photochemical activity of titanium dioxide, further improve the weather resistance, dispersion, powdering resistance and light resistance of titanium dioxide, and improve its application performances in fields such as plastics and coating. The oxides used for surface coating of titanium dioxide usually include aluminium oxide, silicon oxide, zirconium dioxide and cerium oxide. When the Sodium Metaaluminate for Titanium Dioxide is used as surface treatment, it is coated as aluminium oxide.
